Excellent Academic Foundation

Dual Accreditation

We are proud to hold dual accreditation from Christian Schools International (CSI) and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). As part of the accreditation process, every 5 years SJCS undergoes a self-evaluation, site visits, and goal-setting process to implement an improvement plan. Through accreditation, we continue to exceed rigorous standards and offer an exceptional faith-infused academic product.

Outperforming Peer Schools

2nd-8th grade students participate in the MAP Growth Assessment in the Fall and Spring. Our 2025 scores show that SJCS students outperform public and private schools in California in all levels and all subjects.

Academic Support

We believe in teaching the "Whole Child," recognizing that God created us all with different abilities and gifts. We hold every student to his or her level of educational excellence within a safe and loving environment. MAP scores not only verify the quality of our academic program, but they are also used to provide individual support to students based on their needs. SJCS teachers use data to inform their instruction and provide differentiated support that meets students where they are.

Since its opening in 2000, the Arlet Veurink Learning Center provides additional instruction and support for students in grades 1-5 who are experiencing difficulty in phonemic awareness, phonics, spelling, reading comprehension, and written expression. This Language Arts pull-out program is a distinct offering at SJCS. Read more about the Learning Center and academic support at SJCS.

Intentional Faith-Integration

100% Faith-Integrated

Like many Christian schools, SJCS has Bible classes and weekly chapels, but we do not stop there. In all SJCS classes and programs—from Math to Art to Recess—our students are taught to see life through the lens of scriptural truth.

We believe that God is sovereign over the entire cosmos and, for that reason, we need to study all aspects of creation. Every area of the school’s curriculum contributes to our understanding of who God is and His lordship over all creation. As God has redeemed His people from the sin that corrupts us, we also believe He is redeeming and restoring all creation. We teach students to discern what is good, beautiful, and true, based on God’s word.

What We Believe (PDF)

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” ~Romans 12:2

SJCS offers weekly, age-appropriate chapels for all Preschool, Elementary, and Middle School students.

Intentional Christian Community

We work to establish a strong relationship between church, home, school, and community so that students and families are equipped and encouraged in their faith. We are a covenantal, faith-filled community that holds each other accountable to living out these core values and engaging and transforming our culture for Jesus Christ.

"I love how the school is run—the values, community, kindness & compassion. The minute you set foot on campus, you can feel the presence of the Lord. This school is truly blessed. The staff go above and beyond with the students, and I am more than impressed by everything from the community to the education." ~Christy Chung, 2024 Parent Survey

More than 50 churches and dozens of ministry leaders are represented in the SJCS community across our programs. At SJCS, students have a tangible example of how the body of Christ comes together and how we as Christians support one another.

Teach, Not Ban

We do not avoid difficult issues; we teach biblical discernment. Transforming culture for Jesus Christ requires that we engage with culture in meaningful ways. The “Teach, Not Ban” approach at SJCS is how we prepare students for life. Throughout their education, students are taught to look at the world through the lens of scripture to identify the good that leads to thriving and the evil that does not.

"Through my spiritual growth at SJCS and through the community of teachers, students, and families, I learned how to make wise decisions and have discernment. I am so glad I went to SJCS and can honestly say that SJCS helped me be the person I am today." ~Grace Sacks, 2023 Alumni Survey

Students also get to engage with the world around them through hands-on learning. These experiences happen both in the classroom and outside our campus on field trips. We value field trips as real-world learning opportunities and prioritize them for our students. From 4th-8th grade, all students have overnight field trip opportunities which they often describe as a highlight in their learning experience. Check out our Field Trip page to see where our students go and what they learn.

Commitment to Serve

SJCS graduates are taught to give back. We place an emphasis on responsible stewardship, encouraging students to use their community, time, and resources to transform culture for Jesus Christ. Service is part of a student's education at SJCS through student involvement in the annual Walk-A-Thon fundraiser, our JK-8 Buddies program, student-organized service projects, and more.
