Professional Background
With a diverse background in technology, education, and entrepreneurship, I bring two decades of experience across multiple industries. I hold an A.S. in Electronics, a B.S. in Information Technology, and am nearing completion of a Masters in Education from Alliant International University. My career began in Silicon Valley’s tech sector, where I held roles in equipment maintenance, training, employee onboarding, and management. In 2016, I transitioned into education, teaching in public, charter, private, catholic, and Montessori school settings. Most recently, I taught 4th grade at a St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School and coached the girl's basketball team. In 2020, I founded RBSkatecamp—a thriving summer and weekend skateboarding program now in its fifth year—merging my passion for teaching with a mission to empower youth through action sports and mentorship.
Personal Background
Born in San José, Costa Rica, I immigrated to the United States at the age of five with my mother, Sandra and three sisters—Hazel, Indiana, and Carolina. She raised us with love, faith, and determination. Her strength and sacrifice laid the foundation for the values I carry today: resilience, gratitude, and the importance of community. Family is at the center of my life. I’m a proud father to two sons, both graduates of Bellarmine College Preparatory in San José. Both of them will attend Chico State University.
Christian Philosophy of Education
My Christian faith, rooted in my family’s immigration journey and my mother’s steadfast trust in God, deeply inspires my approach to teaching. Along with my personal faith, my experiences at Bellarmine College Prep and St. Elizabeth Seton have shaped my belief that every child is made in God’s image and deserves to be nurtured with love and faith. Teaching is a calling to serve God by supporting students’ growth academically and spiritually. I am committed to modeling SJCS’s faith-infused academics, integrating biblical truth in all subjects, and partnering with families to help students become compassionate, faith-filled individuals who love and serve the Lord.
