I graduated from Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL with a BA in Elementary Education and Deaf Education. I worked in several schools in Florida teaching deaf and hard of hearing students until my first child was born. While being a stay-at-home mom, I homeschooled our children for 5 1/2 years. I directed our homeschool community of Classical Conversations for two years of that time, and also oversaw standardized testing for homeschoolers in our area.
I was born in Northwest Indiana, and my family moved to Florida when I was 14. I met my husband Mark at church in St. Augustine, Florida and we were married just nine months later in 2003. During our years together we have moved many times and have been able to live in five different states. We moved to San Jose in July 2017 when Mark took the position of Associate Pastor at Covenant OPC. We are hoping to make San Jose our long-term home! We have a busy home with 4 children, Gabriel, Miriam, Abraham, and Anavah. We are excited that all of them are currently attending SJCS. During our free time, we love doing any outdoor activities together as a family. Reading and cooking are some of my favorite quiet activities during my alone time.
Christian Philosophy of Education
I believe our faith permeates every aspect of our life. Nothing is separate from it, especially our education. It is so important to have support at school for what is already being done in the home and at church. Our education shapes our worldview and how we live out our lives as we follow Christ. Giving that firm foundation to children helps them to grow in their faith as they are trained to interact and live in the world.
