After 15 years in the business world, God began preparing me for an exciting move into athletics and education 5 years ago when I started coaching basketball at Branham High School and serving in the children’s ministry at Central Christian Church with my wife, Kristin. I am currently finishing my Masters Degree at Concordia University, Irvine in Coaching and Exercise Science. I’m excited to use my gifts to help the students at San Jose Christian develop physically and mentally so that they can pursue God’s purpose in their lives passionately and with confidence!
I love sports, music, and learning new things. I play bass guitar in worship band, golf as much as I can, and still enjoy playing basketball in various local men’s leagues. Growing up I was lucky to participate in a wide range of activities from sports, jazz band, student leadership, and academic honors programs. My wife Kristin and I have been married for 5 years, and I am so blessed to be doing ministry and life with such a wonderful woman!
Christian Philosophy of Education
Two words that were spoken to me repeatedly as a child by my grandmother have had a large effect on my life. Grandma always said, “Joshua can.” This self confidence, rooted in Philipians 4:13, has allowed me to find the strength in Christ to take on life’s challenges. My goal as a Christian Educator is to help students develop this same self-confidence, knowing that each one is made in God’s image, and God has a plan for their life!
As a coach and mentor I hope to embody 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 as I teach young people to compete, while also being patient, kind, not boastful, not proud, and not self-seeking. I want our SJCS students and athletes to rejoice in truth, protect, trust, hope, and always persevere.
