San Jose Christian School (SJCS) is a member of the Bay Area Christian School Athletic League (BACSAL). BACSAL consists of 26 Christian schools from all over the Bay Area. The league is divided according to geographical location into four divisions. SJCS usually participates in the south division.
It is the goal of both our school and our league to use sports in a positive way to promote Christian leadership, sportsmanship, and Christian education in our schools. We also hope that through athletics our students will be able to develop positive Christian relationships with other athletes from our school as well as the other schools in our league. Our league sanctions a number of sports for both boys and girls.
Fall: Boys’ flag football, girls’ softball, co-ed cross country
Winter: Boys’ basketball and girls’ basketball
*Spring 1: Boys soccer and girls’ volleyball
*Spring 2: Boys’ volleyball and girls’ soccer
*Spring 1 and Spring 2 seasons rotate every other year.
All students in sixth through eighth grades are encouraged to try out for a sport. There is a high participation rate due to our proven athletic successes and the SJCS no-cut policy. If SJCS is unable to field a team due to low numbers, an invitation for participation may be extended to fifth graders. There is a required participation fee of $75 for each sport.
