Why should I send my child to Christian school?
San Jose Christian school supports and strengthens the spiritual priorities of your home and church. While stimulating academic excellence, SJCS also gives proper attention to physical and social growth development. We encourage your child to develop the unique gifts that God has given him/her. Enfolded in a Christian community of parents, teachers and fellow students, in which Jesus Christ is radiantly evident, your child gains experience making moral choices regarding stewardship, social relationships, leisure time use and entertainment. We strive to prepare your child for Christian life and leadership in his or her community.

Are all your teachers credentialed?
Yes, our teachers are required to have California certification or certificates from the state where they earned their degree.

What qualities do you consider important with your teachers?
We value a personal, Christian commitment and full agreement with our statement of faith. We also value a demonstrated love for children, a passion for teaching and professional growth, and an understanding of Christian education as expressed in our mission and goals. Our teachers desire to teach in a Christian school where they integrate learning and life.

What is your admission policy?
San Jose Christian School believes it can most effectively carry out its mission and goals when its efforts are balanced with effective spiritual nurturing in the home and in the church. Consequently, SJCS primarily admits students whose parents (guardians) provide this balance. The spiritual nurture in the home and church should be consistent with SJCS' Statement of Faith. When this is not the case SJCS may admit students whose parents (guardians) are striving to achieve this balance.

How many churches are represented in your student body?
There are currently about 100 churches represented.

What is your discipline policy?
Being a Christ centered school, we strive to teach our children to treat each other with the respect that God requires of us. Our general behavior standards are to be courteous and cooperative, to refrain from behaviors that interfere with teaching and learning, and to respect the person, possessions and space of others. Teachers work with students individually to correct misguided behaviors. If further intervention is needed, the teacher and student will meet with the principal. If the problem continues, a parent conference will be called. If the problem continues further it will result in suspension and if needed, finally, expulsion.

Does your school have extended care?
Yes, we have a before and after school care. Extended care is available before school from 7-8 AM. It opens again after school from 3-6 PM. Our extended care also provides a summer camp for SJCS students.
