Mrs. Mulfinger played in band throughout her Bachelor of Music, M.Ed., and M.A. Music Degrees. She taught M.S./H.S. bands in central CA where she grew up and later married and moved to San Jose where she soloed with orchestras, accompanied, and taught piano, voice, guitar, and flute at VCS as well as to some former SJCS students. Several of Jamie's compositions and arrangements have been published and recorded. Jamie also leads worship for Union Presbyterian Church of Los Altos, and it is her pleasure to come on board at SJCS this year and return to teaching school bands!
I consider myself a country girl at heart. I grew up along the central coast of CA, with my horse and mountains in my backyard to ride where I could see the ocean five miles away on a clear day. In High School I knew I wanted to be a professional musician, so I entered many music competitions and scholarships, toured with a baroque orchestra, and performed live on radio. My college years gave me a chance to spread my wings both spiritually and academically. Returning to CA, marrying my college sweetheart, and being near a big city where I could further my music career was a dream come true. I have four children, ages 15, 10, 8, and 6. I especially love hanging with them outdoors whether camping, hiking, biking, swimming, or attempting to keep up with them in their favorite sports: running, basketball, tennis, and gaga ball.
Philosophy of Christian Education
As a lifelong learner, I believe in inspiring others to pursue their interests, tackle challenges with determination, and face the world confidently knowing true strength is rooted in faith in Jesus. Shakespeare wrote, "All the world's a stage" and as a music educator, I like that stage to allow for trying new things, making mistakes, and having fun as we journey to become all that God desires of us. God is not done with any of us yet. The president of my alma mater would say, "You can borrow brains, but you cannot borrow character" and I believe that personal and professional integrity is central to being salt and light in this world. I believe San Jose Christian School is a great place to live out this philosophy and partner with families to equip young people for a bright future.
