2011 Auction Wrap-Up - On April 30, about 150 supporters of San Jose Christian School gathered at the Joan Pisani Community Center in Saratoga for the annual SJCS auction. We use the auction to support technology initiatives on campus, and the theme for this year was “Inspire.” Focusing on our job as educators to inspire our students and on the role
technology can play in that process, this year’s event sought funds for a mobile iPad 2 lab, upgraded desktop computers in the library, upgraded laptops in our mobile laptop labs, and upgraded servers to continue offering SJCS staff and students a smooth computing experience. While these were lofty goals to reach, we knew that we serve an inspiring God who, as the Bible tells us, is able to accomplish immeasurably more
than we can ask or imagine.
Last year’s auction raised $43,000, and this year we set the goal at $45,000. Before the event, an anonymous donor said that if we met our stated goal, we would receive an additional $10,000, providing a great deal of motivation for the people planning the event and for the guests in attendance. After a great night of fun and fellowship, the group was thrilled to learn they had surpassed the goal, raising over $53,000.
With the added gift, our auction brought in over $63,000 (the most in the 9-year history of the event) and truly inspired those involved. We are overwhelmed at the support of the SJCS community and thank everyone involved in the auction for their gifts of time, talent, and treasure.
