Biography
I graduated from
Calvin College in 2006 with double major in Elementary
Education and Fine Arts. After college I worked for one
year as a full time substitute teacher at schools in the
Grand Rapids, MI area. In the spring of 2007, I accepted a position to teach at San Jose Christian School, and I am looking forward to my fifth year here. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Education with a specialization in Teacher Leadership through Walden University. I also serve as the elementary representative on the Education Eommittee. Iam passionate about teaching because of my love for learning and interacting with children.
Personal Biography
I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan
in a family of five. I graduated from the Grand Rapids Christian Schools. My husband, Jeremy, and I have been
married since June 2007. I
enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, camping, sewing, reading, and cooking. I
attend The Journey Church. I am active in Wyldlife as a leader for middle school students in the Almaden neighborhood.
Christian Philosophy of Education
My philosophy of Christian Education
stems from a belief that we are called to live in this
world as transformers. We are
called by God to learn about His world and to be a light
in it. I believe that in my classroom, students will know that they are part of a community. I want my students
to feel encouraged in their faith along with their learning.
As a Christian educator, I strive to work with
parents to give each child the support that
they need to grow and learn in and outside of the school
setting.
